What people ask
How does the app know I actually walked?
It uses the step counter built into your iPhone (Motion & Fitness data). It counts even when your phone is locked in your pocket. You can’t fake steps by tapping.
Which apps can it lock?
You build your own categories (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, games…). Locking runs on Apple’s Screen Time. On Instagram, Lapse can lock just Reels and the feed and leave your DMs open.
What if I need my phone right now?
Messages, calls and everything outside your categories work as usual. And if it’s really urgent, you can skip the lock – it just costs something.
How much will it cost?
The basics are free (1 category). Premium, with unlimited categories, custom rules and stats, will be $3.99 a month. Everyone on the waitlist gets the first month free.
Will it be on Android?
iPhone only for now. We’re considering Android depending on demand – let us know if you want it.
When does Lapse come out?
We’re aiming for the App Store in early 2027. People on the waitlist will hear first.
